Learning to view a glass as half-full rather than
          half-empty, redefining problems as opportunities
for growth, or increasing one’s confidence
to view more options as viable might be the
new perspective that works in your situation.

Interests

Hello!  My name is Elyse Greenwald.  I am a clinical professional counselor.  I enjoy helping people change "I can't" statements into "I can" statements.  I enjoy helping people strengthen their ability to change the things that they can - and accept the things that they cannot change.  I enjoy helping families strengthen their relationships with the people in their lives that are important to them.

My experience and training over the years has focused on helping children, adolescents, and adults use their strengths, abilities, and learned skills to happily and successfully navigate from one stage of their lives to another.  My approach to working with people comes from two sources:  choice theory and mindfulness.  Choice theory essentially says that when you choose the behavior, you choose the consequences.  In therapy, I help clients replace self-defeating behaviors with winning behaviors.  Using hypnosis, guided imagery, focusing, and meridian tapping (acupressure), I help people to direct their awareness away from negative thoughts and pain toward a safe place in their mind where they can experience peace and contentment.
