About Me:
I have been working in behavioral health for 35 years and have been a licensed and certified clinical social worker in Maryland for 28 years. I have worked in a variety of settings in clinical and leadership roles. These settings include psychiatric hospitals, residential treatment centers, outpatient programs, treatment foster care, special education, managed care organizations, and employee assistance programs. My professional background has given me many valuable years of experience working with traumatized people, families, and systems. While my years of practice had me serving children, adolescents, and adults, I am currently a provider of adult psychotherapy.
I thoroughly enjoy working with clients who are seeking help in healing and removing obstacles to their pursuits of fulfilling lives. Anxiety, despair, grief, and self-doubt are common in the human journey. I apply a developmental perspective in helping clients gain insight about where they have been, are currently and wish to go. I draw on several modalities of therapy and integrate these to individualize therapy with each client. A strong therapeutic alliance is crucial in my work. While I work with men and women, I specialize in men’s issues around previous life experience, relationship challenges and cultivating a healthy masculine. I am currently facilitating a group for men entitled The Men’s Learning Collective. Counseling other psychotherapists and working musicians has become a specialty of mine that allows me to apply my experience, skills, and personal relatability.
In addition to offering psychotherapy services, I am an experienced and board certified clinical supervisor, trainer and behavioral health program development consultant to agencies and organizations.
